Some (All) Autodesk Products Failed to Install

*** Solved: skip to end of this post ***

Some Autodesk components fail to install, with the error message "An error occurred while installing this product. For more information view the installation log file"

The log file ends with one of more lines similar to:
2014/12/23:21:35:44 James JAMES2015 Rollback Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Redistributable (x64) Update 4 Failed Installation aborted, Result=1619
2014/12/23:21:35:44 James JAMES2015 Rollback Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Redistributable (x86) Update 4 Failed Installation aborted, Result=1619

S A Delphin of Techytipz recomments uninstalling ALL Microsoft Visual C++ installations:

         (This is a brand new Windows 8 computer, not sure why there are 16 versions already installed)

Then use command prompt to run:

msiexec.exe -unreg
msiexec.exe -regserver

Reboot and start the installation again.

So Autodesk Building Design Suite is what installs sixteen versions of MS Visual C++.  I performed Delphin's instruction 3 times in a row, the 3rd time only installing Revit 2015 and it finally worked.

AutoCAD 2015 then installed with no problems.  AutoCAD, Autodesk 260 and Revit run fine at this point.

Structural Detailing then had a problem installing.

I install updates to AutoCAD, 360 & ReCap although nothing there indicates it will help with the installation problem.  When that is done I will uninstall C++ again.

Installation of Structural Detailing errs out with "A newer version of this product is already installed."
Cannot find SD anywhere.  MSVC++ is now not reinstalled and other programs (AdAppMgr) are starting to complain upon restart. (Actually the error may be for 360, which makes sense because I updated it, will uninstall and try again but I don't see how that will fix SD problem)

Success... I think the trick ended up being to install everything at once, from a clean install with Microsoft Visual C++ uninstalled, or to disable the 360 add-ons in the program you are trying to install (not the Autodesk 360 program itself).  It's the Autodesk 360 plug-ins that are crashing when they see that C++ is already installed.

When it is obvious that the goals cannot be reached, don't adjust the goals, adjust the action steps. See the link below for more info.
