Dashed Footing on Foundation Plans

Check these settings if you are having trouble getting your footings dashed linetype in the Foundation view.
  1. Set Graphics View Properties to "Structural" (shortcut VP)
  2. Set Visual Style to "Hidden Lines"
  3. Make sure a floor or slab covers the footings.
If you have exterior footings with no slab covering, set Structural Foundations Visibility/Graphics (VG) to Dash 1/8" in the Projection Lines category. Warning: this will also dash all your slab edges if they were built as foundation slabs. Unless there is a specific reason to use foundation slabs, use floor slabs instead.

You can use linework (LW) to dash an individual linetype manually, but you might need to create a new line style to match foundations first.

It took me a while to track it down but the Line Style that controls how obscured footings look is the system Line Style . Blatantly obvious to some but may not be to others.
