A "constraint" locks two entities together in Revit, so that if one object moves, the other object moves with it. One way to create constraints is to place a dimension between the two objects, and then lock that dimension with the little blue padlock icon.
I created a new dimension style for keeping track of my constraints. It is bright red and I place those dimensions and a layer I will not plot. This way (hopefully) I can keep stem walls and upper walls together with the correct offset, and keep walls attached to grid lines, as I've noticed they sometimes part ways.
This will also help me locate and change constraints easily, for that day when the architect wants to change the stem wall offset from 1/2" to 5/8"...
